Shrubs, 0.6-6 m. Buds alba- or caprea-type, or intermediate. Leaves: stipules on late ones absent, rudimentary, or foliaceous; largest medial blade (sometimes amphistomatous), 3-12 times as long as wide, adaxial surface not glaucous. Staminate flowers: filaments glabrous or hairy. Pistillate flowers: adaxial nectary shorter than stipe; stipe 0.4-4 mm; ovary sparsely to moderately densely short-silky; stigmas with flat, non-papillate abaxial surface, or stigmas cylindrical, 0.2-0.8 mm.
