雀麥屬
Annual or perennial; leaf-sheaths with margins connate for most of their length, usually hairy. Panicle open or contracted, ample or scanty . Spikelets cuneate to ovate; glumes herbaceous; lemmas herbaceous to subcoriaceous sometimes with membranous margins, entire or bidenticulate to bilobed, mucronate to long awned, the awn subapical though sometimes minutely so; stamens (1-)3.
Temerate regions of both hemispheres but mainly in the north.
Species ± 150. Woodland, meadow and ruderal habitats.
