Stoloniferous perennial with aquatic adventitious roots; leaf-blades ovate to elliptic, floating, the sheaths inflated. Spikelets 1-flowered, the floret borne upon long slender stipe and falling with it; lemma firmly membranous, awned; stamens 6.
India to Sri Lanka.
