Aristida formosana Honda, Bot. Mag. Tokyo 41: 379. 1927; Honda, Monogr. Poac. Jap. 211. 1930.

Culm 30 cm tall. Blades subcoriaceous, filiform, 10-15 cm long, less than 1 mm wide; ligule a fringe of hairs, 0.5 mm long. Panicle open, loose, 14 cm long. spikelets 1-flowered, 8 mm long; pedicel long; glumes linear-lanceolate, acute, subcoriaceous; the lower 1-nerved, slightly longer than the upper; the upper 3-nerved; lemma 6 mm long, margin slightly inrolled, awn arising from the apex, 3 mm long; palea minute, linear-lanceolate, chartaceous, 2-keeled, 1.5 mm long.

Distributed in Indo-China, and southern China.
