Culm tufted. Blade 9-10 cm long, linear, 1-1.5 mm wide; sheath-mouth and margins covered with long silky hairs; ligule of a ring of hairs about 0.3 mm long. Inflorescence a contracted panicle, cylindrical, pilose at the axils of branches. Spikelets 6-7-flowered, about 4 mm long; glumes chartaceous, broadly lanceolate,1-nerved, pointed; the lower glume slightly shorter, about 1.8 mm long; lemma chartaceous, ovate-deltoid, mucronate; palea elliptical, chartaceous, 2-keeled, cilate along keels, margins inrolled and ciliate. Caryopsis about 0.5 mm long, ovate; embryo 1/2 the length of the caryopsis.
