Culm up to 40 cm tall, 1.5 mm in diameter, usually rooting at the basal nodes. Blade auminate at both ends, up to 20 cm long, 6 mm wide; ligule chartaceous, rounded at the apex, 1 mm long. Panicle loose, up to 15 cm long. Spikelets 1-3 -flowered, 6 mm long; pedicel hairy; lower glume inconspicuously 1-nerved, 1.3 mm long, rounded at the apex, membranous on margins; the upper ovate-lanceolate, 2 mm long, 3-nerved; lemmas subcoriaceous, margins inrolled, enclosing th epalea, 6 mm long, broadl lanceolate; palea chartaceous, 2-keeled,margins membranous, as long as the spikelets; anther 1 mm long.
