Culm 60-70 cm tall, 2-3 mm in diameter, 3-5-nodose, node conspicuous. Blades linear, 17-20 cm long, 5 mm wide; ligule membranous, tongue-shaped, 1 mm long. Spike up to 30 cm long; spikelets alternate on the axis, 11-20-flowered, rarely less, 18 mm long; lower glume absent; upper glume narrowly lanceolate, coriaceous and thick, margins hyaline, 7-nerved, 11 mm long; lemmas subequal, awned, chartaceous, lanceolate, 5-nerved, margins membrnanous, as long as the floret, the lowest 7 mm long; palea 6 mm long, chartaceous, 2-keeled, minutely ciliate along keels.

It was introduced in large amount as soil binder of mountain slope along provincial road No. 18. and No. 21.
