Perennials; clum glabrous, 80-130 cm high. Blade narrowly lanceolate, thin, plicate, glabrous, 30-
20 cm long, acuminate; mouth of sheath long hairy, margins ciliate; ligule ca. 2 mm long, consisting of
a ring of hairs. Panicle loose, branches contracted, 20-30 cm long. Spikelets green, sometimes purplish,
ovate-oblong, ca. 3.5 mm long, acute; lower glume 1/3 as long as spikelet, ovate-orbicular, 5-veined;
upper glume 3/4-2/3 as long as spikelet, obtuse, oblong, 5-7-veined. Lower lemma narrowly ovate, 5-7-
veined, acute; upper lemma as long as spikelet, shiny, ovate-oblong, acute, distinctly and finely rugose.
