Culm erect, hard, about 1 mm in diameter. Blade about 8 cm long by 7 mm wide; ligule about 0.9 mm long, truncate and ciliate. Inflorescence a loose panicle; racemes with glabrous branches. Spikelets paired, monomorphic; rachis of the raceme articulating. Lower spikelet talling off together with the rachis-joint; glumes chartaceous, dirty yellow, sericeous on the back, lanceolate; the lower about 5.2 mm long, 9-nerved; the upper as long as the lower, 9-nerved, slightly narrower than the lower; lower lemma membranous, deltoid-lanceolate, margins fimbriate, as long as the glume, 1-nerved, about 4 mm long; palea membranous, 2-keeled; upper lemma about 3 mm long, deeply 2-cleft, awned from the sinus, margins minutely fimbriate; upper palea lanceolate, fimbriate on upper part, infolded on the basal part.

Distributed on hillsides at low elevations.
