Culm 60-70 cm tall, 2 mm in diameter. Blade 20 cm long, 2-2.5 mm wide, linear; ligule subcoriaceous, rounded, 0.1-0.5 mm long. Spike 10-15 cm long; spikelets solitary at each node of the spike-axis. Spikelets 6-flowered, up to 2 cm long; glumes subcoriaceous, narrowly oblong-lacnceolate, nerves conspicuous and minutely hispid; the lower 5-6 mm long, 5-nerved; the upper 6-8 mm long, 5-7-nerved. Floret awned, 11 mm long; lemmas subcoriaceous, oblong, 5-nerved, with a bent awn, about 20 mm long; palea linear-oblong, 9 mm long, 2-keeled, minutely hispid along keels. Caryopsis oblong, adnate to the palea, 6 mm long.
