Perennials; culm tufted, erect, 15-30 cm high. Blade usually 2-5 cm long, 2-3 mm wide, lower culm
one may to 10 cm long; sheath 1-3 cm long, slightly pilose; ligule ca. 1.5 mm long, truncate, membranaceous.
Inflorescence in digitate racemes, racemes 2-3, 5-7 cm long; rachis 0.3-0.4 mm wide, narrowly
winged, margins sparingly scabrous; pedicel slender, bending. Spikelets oblong-elliptic, 1.2-1.5 mm
long, acute, covered with verrucose hairs; lower glume ca. 0.1 mm long, obscure; upper glume oblong,
obtuse, 3-5-veined, ca. 1.4 mm long; lower lemma as long as upper glume. Floret oblong-ovate, pallid
brown, punctate; apex often somewhat pale; anther ca. 0.4 mm long.
