    Note: Only the typical variety is known from Madagascar. According to Jeffrey (1988), the related V. meiostephana has been confused with this species and may occur in Madagascar. However, we have not found any material of V. meiostephana from Madagascar. In addition to the pantropical typical var., others are known from mainland Africa.
