6. Rhytidiopsis Brotherus in H. G. A. Engler and K. Prantl, Nat. Pflanzenfam. 232/233[I,3]: 1057, figs. 858A-D. 1908. • [Genus Rhytidium and Greek -opsis, appearance, alluding to similar leaves].

Stems creeping to ascending, (3-)5-8 mm wide across leafy stem, monopodial, irregularly and remotely branched; paraphyllia dense, base 1- or 2-seriate, branches 1-seriate. Stem leaves erect to spreading, falcate-secund, crowded, ovate to lanceolate, strongly plicate, rugose in lower acumen, (2.5-)3.6-5.3 mm; base not decurrent; margins serrulate at apex, otherwise minutely toothed to entire; apex gradually acuminate; costa double, 1/4-1/2 leaf length; alar cells ± differentiated; laminal cells smooth. Branch leaves similar. Capsule horizontal; operculum conic; exostome teeth irregularly cross striolate to somewhat reticulate proximally; endostome segments narrowly perforate.
