Annuals [biennials]; eglandular. Trichomes absent [simple]. Cauline leaves sessile; blade base cordate or auriculate [sagittate], margins usually entire, rarely crenulate. Racemes ebracteate, often elongated in fruit. Flowers actinomorphic; sepals erect [ascending], lateral pair saccate basally; petals white or yellow, claw present, distinct or not; filaments unappendaged, not winged; pollen 3-colpate. Fruits siliques, dehiscent, unsegmented, terete, angled, or latiseptate; ovules 10-50[-numerous] per ovary; style distinct; stigma (often decurrent), capitate [conical], entire [2-lobed]. Seeds uniseriate; cotyledons usually incumbent, rarely subconduplicate.
