Carex de Mühlenberg

Pistillate scales 2.5–3.6 × 1.6–2 mm. Perigynia 5–9-veined or veinless adaxially, 3–4.2 × 2–2.6(–3) mm; beak 0.8–1.2 mm.

Fruiting late spring–early summer. Dry grasslands, open forests, commonly on sand; 10–300 m; Ont., Que.; Ala., Ark., Conn., Del., D.C., Fla., Ga., Ill., Iowa, Kans., Ky., La., Maine, Md., Mass., Mich., Minn., Miss., Mo., N.H., N.J., N.Y., N.C., Ohio, Okla., Pa., R.I., S.C., Tex., Vt., Va., W.Va., Wis.
