Stems 3.2-4.5(-8) cm diam.; ribs (6-)7-9(-10); areoles (9-)14-25(-36) mm apart. Spines: radial spines 8-10(-13) per areole, 9.5-19(-33) mm; central spines 1-4 per areole, (12-)20-44(-50) mm.
Flowering Apr-Jul; fruiting Jul-Sep. Tamaulipan thorn scrub, oak savannas, limestone bluffs, well-drained alluvium; 0-1000 m; Tex.; Mexico (Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas).
