Leaf blades broadly deltate or rhombic, 2-6.6 cm, without basal lobes but margins deeply toothed to entire. Inflorescences drooping, with leaflike bracts. Styles without yellow area at base. Seeds 1.7-2 mm diam.

Fruiting Sep-Oct. Disturbed areas, mostly as weed in cultivated ground, woods, alluvial river banks; elevation not known; Ont., Que.; Ala., Ark., Conn., D.C., Ill., Ind., Iowa, Kans., Ky., La., Maine, Md., Mass., Mich., Minn., Mo., Nebr., N.H., N.J., N.Y., N.C., N.Dak., Ohio, Okla., Pa., R.I., S.C., S.Dak., Tenn., Vt., Va., W.Va., Wis.
