Stems 0.5-4.5 dm. Fruiting bracteoles sessile, samaralike, orbiculate, compressed, 3-4 mm, united to beyond middle, margin rather minutely and acutely toothed, teeth mainly 0.3- 0.5 mm. Seeds 1.5 mm.
Flowering spring-fall. Alkaline flats, valley grasslands, deserts; 70-1000 m; Ariz, Calif., Nev.; Mexico (Baja California).
