Scapes erect, densely glandular-puberulent, slightly pilose. Inflorescences cymose-umbellate, rarely capitate. Peduncles 0.05-0.2 cm.
Flowering Jun-Sep. Quartz outcrops, conifer woodlands; 2300-2500 m; Calif.
Variety breedlovei is restricted to Piute Mountain and the Owens Peak areas of Kern County. It is occasionally grown in rock gardens.
