Twigs glandular-hairy. Leaf blades strongly white-glaucous, base rounded, sometimes ± lobed to truncate, surfaces scabrous, finely glandular-hairy or sparsely puberulent. Inflo-rescences: immature inflorescence axis densely white-hairy, eglan-dular; bracts densely white-hairy, eglandular. Pedicels densely white-hairy. Ovaries densely white-hairy. Fruits slightly depressed-globose. Stones distinct.

Flowering winter-early spring; interior chaparral on gabbroic soils; of conservation concern; 200-1200 m; Calif.; Mexico (Baja California).

Subspecies leucophylla occurs from the Peninsular Range of California southward to northern Baja California.
