49a. Ribes oxyacanthoides Linnaeus var. oxyacanthoides

Stems: spines at nodes 2-3; internodal prickles moderately dense. Leaf blades 0.7-3.5 cm, base truncate or subcordate, abaxial surface densely pilose and often evenly glandular, lobes cuneate-rounded, margins ir-regularly crenate-dentate into prominent, unequal teeth. Peduncles 2-6 mm. Pedicels 2-5 mm, glabrous. Flowers: hypanthium greenish white to white, campanulate or short-tubular, 1.5-5.5 mm, glabrous; sepals greenish yellow, broadly to narrowly oblong-ovate, 2.5-5.5 mm, apex rounded, glabrous; petals white, obovate to oblong-obovate, 1-3.5 mm, base slightly cuneate, apex rounded, erose or at least crenate; filaments 0.5-3.5 mm; styles 5.5-8 mm.

Flowering May-Aug. Rock outcrops, gravelly streamsides and lakeshores, open forests, rocky slopes, sandy islands, raised beach ridges, coastal sand dunes; 200-1900 m; Alta., B.C., Man., Nfld. and Labr. (Nfld.), N.W.T., Ont., Que., Sask., Yukon; Alaska, Mich., Minn., Mont., Nebr., N.Dak., S.Dak., Wis., Wyo.
