Davis’s thistle

Involucres 1.5–3.5 cm diam. Corollas lavender to rich pink-purple.
Flowering summer (Jun–Aug). Arid slopes, roadsides, grasslands, sagebrush scrub, dry woodlands, montane forests; 1400–3100 m; Idaho, Nev., Utah, Wyo.
Variety davisii occurs in the northern Great Basin region and adjacent mountains from northern Nevada and southern Idaho to eastern Wyoming and northern Utah.
