Stems erect, hispid. Leaf blades 4–9 cm , margins usually shallowly, regularly serrate, abaxial faces sometimes gland-dotted. Peduncles 25–50 cm. Ray laminae (15–)20–30 mm. Discs 16–18(–20) mm diam. 2n = 34.
Flowering spring–fall. Open areas , sandy soils; 10–100+ m; Conn., Fla., Ga., La., Md., Mass., Mich., N.H., N.Y., N.C., Pa., R.I., S.C., Tex., Vt., Va., W.Va.
