Leaves not stipitate-glandular. Phyllaries gland-dotted (not stipitate-glandular). Disc florets 3–5. 2n = 10.
Flowering Aug–Oct. Openings, chaparral, thin, gravelly soils of serpentine outcrops, roadsides; of conservation concern; 100–500 m; Calif.
Variety glabrata is known only from the southern San Francisco Bay area in Santa Clara County.
