Stems reddish to dark brown. Leaf margins dentate to pinnately lobed (segments cuspidate). 2n = 10.
Flowering May–Oct. Coastal areas, sandy soils; 0–200 m; Calif.
Variety pectinata is known from the South Coast Range from Monterey County to northern Santa Barbara County.
