Stems 15-25 cm. Leaf blades green, not glaucous, linear-oblanceolate, 2-3.5 × 0.3-0.7 cm. Petals yellow, red at apex and on keel. Seeds 1.1-1.9 mm. 2n = 36.
Flowering summer. Porphyritic rocks; of conservation concern; 3300-3600 m; N.Mex.
Subspecies neomexicana occurs in the Sierra Blanca, Lincoln County.
