Caudices to 2+ dm × 1-3 cm. Rosette leaf blades usually green, triangular-lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, 5-15 × 1-1.5 cm, surfaces sometimes farinose. Inflorescences: floral shoots 2-4.5 dm × 4-7 mm; cyme mostly obpyramidal; branches 1-3 times bifurcate; cincinni 5-12-flowered, 3-5 cm. Corollas ca. 16-20 mm diam. 2n = 34.
Flowering spring. Cliffs, flat terraces, and rocky banks near sea; of conservation concern; 0-400 m; Calif.
Subspecies virens is endemic to San Clemente Island.
