Twigs densely glandular-hairy. Leaf blades: margins ciliate, surfaces papillate, scabrous, sparsely finely short glandular-hairy. Ovaries rough, glandular-hairy, viscid. Fruits rough, glandular-hairy, viscid.
Flowering winter-early spring. Chaparral, open forests; 200-1200 m; Calif.
Subspecies mariposa occurs in the central Sierra Nevada, mostly in Mariposa County.
