Annuals, biennials, or perennials; trichomes usually simple, sometimes mixed with branched, smaller ones. Cauline leaves: blade base cuneate to auriculate. Fruits not inflated; valves somewhat to strongly keeled. 2n = 14.
Flowering Feb-May. Coastal plains, near beaches, open chaparral, sandy areas and flats with black, clayey soils; 0-200 m; Tex.; Mexico (Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Veracruz).
