Fruiting pedicels 4-6.5 mm. Fruits: valves pubescent, often sparsely so, trichomes uniform; style 3-5 mm.
Flowering mid May-early Aug. Low ridges of sand and sandstone, bluish shaley clay outcrops, stony soil, open limey knolls, ridges; 2100-3400 m; Utah.
Subspecies hemiphysaria is found only in stony meadows of the Wasatch Plateau.
