Racemes (congested), elongated in fruit; central rachis (3.7-) 4.5-12(-16.5) cm. Fruiting pedicels horizontal to divaricate, straight, whitish, stout, (5-)6-9(-13) mm, moderately flattened at base. Flowers: petals white, (5-)6-9(-10) mm; gynophore stout, (0.5-)1-3 mm. Fruits usually horizontal or divaricate, rarely divaricate-ascending, incurved, (1.4-)1.9-3.7(-4.5) cm. 2n = 26.
Flowering Jun-Oct. Desert flats, shrub communities, alkaline grounds; 600-1800 m; Calif., Nev., Utah.
