Leaf blades ovate or spatulate, margins sinuate, fleshy. Flowers: petals rarely aborted. Fruits (cylindrical), 8-ribbed, 20-29 × 5-9 mm; terminal segment cylindrical, (beak sometimes flattened, blunt), apex usually retuse. 2n = 18.
Flowering Mar-Oct. Sandy beaches; ca. 0 m; Fla., Ga., N.C., S.C.
