Plants mostly rosette-forming. Basal leaves grayish, 6–12(–17) cm; leaflets (5–)10–15(–25) mm, lobes 2–5(–8), linear to oblanceolate, 1–2(–3) mm wide. Pedicels (2–)3–7(–10) mm, puberulent, eglandular or sparsely glandular. Flowers: petals cuneate to obovate, 4–6 × 2–4 mm; filaments 1–2.5 mm.

Flowering summer. Open areas in conifer woodlands, mainly on serpentine soil; 500–1700 m; Calif., Oreg.

Variety daucifolia occurs mostly in valleys along the central Klamath River drainage in Shasta and Siskiyou counties of northern California; a single collection (Applegate 2122, DS and US) is known from extreme southwestern Klamath County, Oregon. Scattered populations occur also in the upper Trinity River drainage in Trinity County, California; some of them have plants with atypically short, 2-fid leaflets.
