Involucral gland appendages absent or rudimentary. Staminate flowers 10–20. Capsules 1.5–2 × 2–3 mm. Seeds 1.6–1.7 × 0.9–1.2 mm. 2n = 12. 
 
 
 
Flowering and fruiting midsummer–early fall. Sand barrens, riverbanks, disturbed sandy or gravelly areas; of conservation concern; 500–1500 m; N.Mex., Tex.; Mexico (Chihuahua).
