Distinguished from other subgenera by the combination of seasonal leaves, narrow, long-creeping stems 1--3 mm diam., pinnate-pinnatifid blades with generally greatly reduced proximal pinnae (except Thelypteris simulata ), and veins meeting margin above the sinuses. x = 27, 32.
Species 1--3 are included in Parathelypteris by some workers (e.g., R. E. Holttum 1976).
