Plants annual. Leaf blades lanceolate, ovate, or usually triangular, glabrous. Perianth segments 3(-4), connate only at base or connate into irregular lobes, margins entire; stigmas 0.1-0.5 mm. Seeds vertical.
Species 4 or 5 (2 in the flora): North America, Europe, Asia.
