Winter buds ovoid to conic, dull, often glaucous, not glutinous, sparsely or densely hairy, hairs primarily rufous. Leaflets not papillose abaxially [exceptionally papillose], ± glaucous adaxially. Flowers: perianth and androecium semiepigynous. Pomes pinkish red, ˂glaucous [or not]˃; sepals persistent; carpels distinct most of length, apex convex.
