Terrestrial herbs. Tuberoids globose. Stems erect, with single radical leaf. Inflorescence terminal, spicate, ± loosely flowered. Flowers resupinate; dorsal sepal erect, concave, ovate, base connate with petals; lateral sepals deflexed, oblong; petals broad, concave, forming hood with dorsal sepal; lip ligulate, apex often narrow and obtuse, base adnate to lateral sepals, spurless; column short; anther large, hood-like, with broad connective, cells widely divergent below; staminode obscure; pollinia 2, sectile, with short caudicle and small viscidium; stigma entire, broad, slightly elevated, pulvinate; rostellum crescent-like, with widely spreading lateral arms ending in viscidium.
Species 5 or 6, probably representing one variable species; from the Himalaya through western China to Japan. One species in Taiwan.
