Small epiphytic herbs. Roots well developed, radiate, usually green. Stems obscure or absent. Leaves few, arising from radiating center of roots, sometimes absent or only present during growing season. Racemes ascending to erect, peduncle winged, with many sterile leafy bracts in lower part; bracts with stipule-like decurrent appendages on both sides and extending into wings on rachis. Flowers with connivent perianth; sepals and petals subequal, connate near base into a short tube; lip sessile, 3lobed or undivided, saccate at base, often with an introrse appendage at apex; anther terminal, opercular, incompletely 2-celled; pollinia 2, waxy, undivided, attached to a distinct slender stipe, with a large viscidium; stigma entire.
More than 40 species, mainly in Papua New Guinea, extending to Java and the Philippines. One species in Taiwan.
