Aphyllorchis tanegashimensis Hayata
Stems 30-60 cm tall, 3.5 mm thick, pale green, with dense purple stripes, remotely 4-5-scaled at middle, densely sheathed near base; scales ca. 2 cm long, obtuse, glabrous. Flowers 10-20, loosely racemose; bracts greenish, purple-striped, lanceolate, 8-12 mm long, 3 mm wide, 3-nerved; pedicel and ovary straight, purplish, 2-3 cm long; sepals greenish, purple-dotted abaxially, oblong-cymbiform, 1012 mm long, 4 mm wide, keeled abaxially, lateral ones slightly oblique; petals yellowish, falcate-oblong, 8-10 mm long, apex obtuse, margin recurved backwards; lip pale yellow, with constricted region between lower part and upper part, 8-10 mm long, lower part with erect triangular auricles, upper part obscurely 3-lobed, 6-8 mm long, 3-lobed, lateral lobes upcurved, middle lobe downcurved, acute and crisped at apex; column elongate, yellow, 8-10 mm long; anther yellow, 2 mm long, 2-celled; pollinia 2, clefted; rostellum tongue-like. Capsules cylindrical, 3.5 cm long.
