    Plants ca. 30 cm tall. Pseudobulbs ovoid-ellipsoid or nearly globose, 1.5-2 cm tall, 1.5-2.5 cm in diam., with 2-3 internodes, surrounded by few membranaceous scales, with whitish thick roots and rhizomes below. Leaves solitary or rarely 2, arising from apex of pseudobulb, oblong, 20-30 cm long, 4-6 cm wide, apex acute, base cuneate, mainly 3-nerved, entire or slightly undulate, more or less plicate; petiole 10-15 cm long, enclosed by 2 or 3 tubular scales. Peduncle lateral from pseudobulb, erect, 20-30 cm long; racemes ca. 10-flowered; bracts ovate-lanceolate, 6-8 mm long; pedicel and ovary 11-13 mm long, strongly down-curved. Flowers pendulous, long tubular, to 4 com long, brownish orange or pale purplish, with blue-violet spots especially on petals and lip; sepals linear-oblanceolate, 3-3.5 cm long, 45 mm wide, apex acuminate, contracted at base, lateral ones slightly longer and oblique; petals similar to sepals but slightly shorter, with large blue-violet spots except narrow base; lip linear-oblanceolate, 3.5 cm long, connate with column at saccate base and long sulcate claw, free and 3-lobed at apex, lateral lobes linear, 5 mm long, midlobe triangular-ovate, 8 mm long, entire, acute, disc with clavate or tonguelike appendage just below anther, appendage white, verruculose to nearly smooth; column 2.5-2.7 cm long, slender, enlarged at apex; anther-cap triangular; pollinia compressed, with large triangular viscidium; stigma concave. Capsules pendulous, ellipsoid-cylindric, ca. 4 cm long.
