    Stems tufted, erect, terete, 10-40 cm long, 3-5 mm in diam., slightly slender toward base, covered tightly by tube-like membranaceous sheaths; internodes cylindrical, 2-3.5 cm long, yellowish green or sometimes dark purple. Leaves lanceolate, 4-8 cm long, 7-15 mm wide, apex acute or obtuse or sometimes oblique, base rounded, articulated with sheath. Racemes lateral, from nodes of defoliated stems, with 1-4, often 2 flowers; peduncle 5-8 mm long; bracts imbricate, ovate-triangular, 3-5 mm long; pedicel and ovary 1.5-2 cm long. Flowers usually white, sometimes tinged with pale rose, rarely turning pale yellow, 2-3 cm in diam.; dorsal sepal, ovate-oblong or lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, 1.5-2.5 cm long, apex acute or obtuse or nearly rounded; lateral sepals similar to dorsal one, base oblique and adnate to foot of column forming mentum 8-10 mm long; petals oblong, as long as dorsal sepal, apex acute, clawed at base; lip erect to ascending, ovate or ovate-rhomboid, slightly shorter than sepals, apex acute, base cuneate, 3-lobed, lateral lobes erect, triangular or semiovate, terminal lobe ovate or triangular, disc glabrous, callous or sometimes hirsute between lateral lobes; column ca. 2 mm long, foot 8-10 mm long, concave; anther hood-like, 1.5 mm long; pollinia 1 mm long. Capsules obovate, 2-3.5 cm long.
