仙茅摺唇蘭

Stems to 70 cm tall, 3-4 mm in diam., internodes 3-4 cm long. Leaves many, +/- distichous, narrowly lanceolate-oblong, 15-25 cm long, 3-4 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, slightly plicate, with 3-4 veins on each side, veinlets to 20. Spikes terminal and lateral, sessile; bracts ovate, 2-3 mm long, lower ones smaller and sterile. Flowers several, crowded, glabrous, whitish; sepals lanceolate, 6-8 mm long, dorsal sepal free, lateral sepal connate 1/4-1/5 their length at base, apex recurved; petals obliquely ovate-lanceolate, recurved; lip ventricose, 6-7 mm long, saccate at base, apex recurved, disc with 2 thin lateral lamellae; column stout; anther broadly ovate, 2.2-2.4 mm long; pollinia equally or unequally cleft, stipe irregularly toothed on upper margin; stigma near apex of column; rostellum triangular lanceolate.

India, Thailand, Sikkim, the Himalaya, and southern China, southward to Malaysia and Java. Taiwan, broadleaved forests in the northern and southern mountains.
