Strychnos henryi Merr. & Yamamoto ex Yamamoto
Scandent shrubs; branchlets slightly hirsute to glabrescent. Leaves long-elliptic to elliptic, 6-8 cm long, 3-4 cm broad, acute to acuminate, base cuneate to obtuse, margins entire, green and shining above, pale beneath, 3- or rarely 5-nerved, costa and veins impressed above, elevated beneath, sparsely pilose; petioles short, ca. 5 mm long, hirsute. Inflorescences terminal, fruiting ones dichotomously branched, subumbellate, hirsute, pedicels stout, ca. 5 mm long. Fruit ca. 3 cm across, black.
PINGTUNG: Hengchun, Henry 1662 (Type!).
Southern China. Taiwan, rare, restricted to thick forest of Hengchun Peninsula, ca. 300-700 m alt.
