小喜普鞋蘭

Herbs 8-20 cm tall. Stems slender, 8-15 cm long, glabrous, with 1 or 2 tubular sheaths at base. Leaves 2, at apex of stem, ovate or triangular-ovate, 2.5-6 cm long, 1-5 cm wide, apex acute, base rounded or cordate, 3-nerved. Peduncle slender, pendulous when flowering, 2-3.5 cm long, glabrous; bracts linear-lanceolate, 1.2-2.2 cm long; pedicel and ovary ca. 1.4 cm long. Flowers solitary, pale green, sometimes tinged with purple, 2-3 cm in diam.; dorsal sepal ovate-lanceolate, 10-16 mm long, 58 mm wide, apex acute, contracted at base, with purple patches near base; synsepal ovate, 8-14 mm long, 4-7 mm wide, shortly bifid or nearly entire at apex; petals lanceolate, 9-14 mm long, 2.5-4.3 mm wide, apex acute, with purple patches near base; lip sac whitish, often with green or purple veins and stripes especially near opening, ovoid or ellipsoid, 8-12 mm long, 6-7 mm across, pilose inside; column ca. 3-4.5 mm long; anther ovoid or globose, 1.5 mm across; staminode stalked, ovate, 2.5 mm long; stigma thick, solid cymbiform, 3 mm long, protruding beyond staminode. Capsules elongate cylindric, 1.5-2 cm long, with elongated, erect peduncle.

China (Szechwan, Hupei) and Japan. Taiwan, coniferous forests, 2,000-3,000 m.
