Epilobium pengii Chen, Hoch & Raven, Syst. Bot. Monogr. 34: 169, fig. 61. 1992. Holotype: Taiwan, Taichung, Hsuehshan, Hoch & Peng 3381 (MO, isotype: HAST, PE).

彭氏柳葉菜 (網籽柳葉菜)

Perennial ascending herb, loosely clustered, with short fleshy, scaly soboles; stems 7-25 cm tall, simple or very sparsely branched in large plants, strigillose above to subglabrous below, with distinct raised hairy lines through internodes. Leaves 1.5-2.5 cm long, 0.8-1.2 cm wide, ovate to lanceolate above to broadly elliptic below, irregularly denticulate, on petioles 0-2 mm. Flowers suberect on strigillose, eglandular inflorescence; floral tube 0.9-1.2 mm long; sepals 4.5-5.5 mm long; petals 5-6.5 mm long, white fading to pink; stigma capitate. Capsules 45-50 mm long, sparsely strigillose, on pedicels 15-20 mm long. Seeds 1-1.1 mm long, surface reticulate; coma dingy, subpersistent. Chromosome number unknown. Flowers Jul-Sep; fruit Sep-Oct.

Distribution: Endemic to Taiwan. Occurs in high montane to subalpine moist areas, in sheltered places along streams, or in moist seeps in subalpine Juniperus stands; 3,100-3,700 m.
