  • Eria hypomelana Hayata

    Pseudobulbs tufted, cylindrical-fusiform, 5-7 cm long, 7-10 mm in diam., with 3 or 4 leaves at apex, covered by scales at base; scales ovate, membranaceous. Leaves elongate oblong or lanceolate, 8-12 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide, coriaceous, greenish, lustrous, apex acuminate, base attenuate. Raceme from cavity near apex of pseudobulb, 6 cm long, remotely few-flowered; peduncle tomentose; bracts ovate, 8-10 mm long, 5 mm wide, tomentose outside, acute; pedicel and ovary 10-18 mm long, densely white tomentose. Flowers greenish yellow, reddish along veins, ca. 1.5 cm in diam.; dorsal sepal oblong, 1 cm long, 4 mm wide, 5-nerved, apex obtuse, slightly contracted at base; lateral sepals obliquely oblong-tri-angular, 11 mm long, 6 mm wide, 5-nerved, apex obtuse, base connate with foot of column forming mentum 5 mm long; petals oblong-lanceolate, 10 mm long, 3 mm wide, apex obtuse, contracted at base, 3-nerved; lip broadly ovate, 9-11 mm long, 6 mm wide, apex truncate emarginate, base cuneate, 3lobed, 2-keeled between lateral lobes, lateral lobes reddish, semi-oblong, 5 mm long, 2 mm wide, erect, embracing column, terminal lobe golden yellow, reniform, 3-4 mm long, 4-5 mm wide; column semi-terete, 6 mm long, 2 mm wide, foot 6 mm long; anther 2-celled, hook-like; pollinia 8, compressed ovoid, connected in 2 pairs by caudicles.
