Rhizome short, erect, densely covered with dark brown, lanceolate scales. Fronds dimorphous,
fertile and sterile about same length, 12-30 cm tall, pinnate, sterile fronds almost without stipe or with
very short stipe; median pinnae about 2 cm long, rarely up to 3.5 cm, lower pinnae gradually shortened
to small wings, usually deflexed; texture coriaceous; venation free; underside bearing small scattered,
brown, lanceolate scales along rachis; c. s. of stipe with 1 small and 2 larger bundles; fertile fronds
brown with much contracted pinnae, about 2 cm long, lower ones distantly spaced, gradually shortened
to about 5 mm long. Indusia brown, coriaceous, reaching midrib, free edge of pinnae only extending
0.5 mm beyond sori.

Endemic. Growing in woods or moist exposed places from 1,000 to 2,500 m altitude.
