    Epiphytes with distinct rhizome ca. 2-3 mm in diam. Pseudobulbs remote, 2-10 cm apart, ovoid to elongate ovoid, 1.5-4 cm tall, 1-2 cm in diam., yellowish green, with 3-5 raised ridges, with 1 leaf at apex. Leaves elliptic to linear oblong, subsessile, 3-15 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, apex retuse, base cuneate, coriaceous, rather thick and stiff, slightly recurved toward margin. Scapes stout, erect, ascending or horizontal, ca. 5-15 cm long, with sheath-like scales below; bract lanceolate, 7-8 mm long, acute at apex; pedicel and ovary 1.5-2.5 cm long. Flowers 2-4, umbellate, orange yellow to reddish, with red or dark purple streaks and spots; dorsal sepal concave, ovate, 1.5-2.4 cm long, 1.1-1.5 cm wide, caudate at apex, glabrous or pubescent inside, margin ciliate; lateral sepals obliquely lanceolate, 2.5-4 cm long, 0.7-1 cm wide, acute at apex, adnate to column foot at base; petals elongate-triangular, 1-1.2 cm long, acute to acuminate at apex, broad at base and adnate to column-foot, distinctly ciliate; lip dark red, horn like, ca. 1 cm long, fleshy, recurved at apex, with dense short hairs around base; column 6 mm long, with 2 short stylids at top and 2 wings laterally, wings with minute red dots, base of column forming a curved red foot ca. 1.2 cm long; anther opercular, 2-celled; pollinia 4, in 2 groups, yellow, waxy, ovoid. Fruit fusiform, 3-4 cm long.

    PINGTUNG: Luliaochi, Su et al. 6919; Nanhenshan, Su 9437.

    So far known from Sri Lanka. Taiwan, recently found in broadleaved forests at 100-400 m near the east coast of the Hengchun Peninsula, rather rare, scattered on mountain ridges.

    The size of the plants and flowers vary greatly in this species in different habitats and even in the same habitat. The dorsal sepal is also somewhat variable. It can be pubescent inside (Su 6919) or nearly glabrous (Su 9437).
