Distribution and habitat. Endemic to Taiwan, Frequently found on shady grasslands or roadsides on northern part of the Central Mountain Range from 1,600 to 2,200 m in elevation. Flowering and Fruiting Jun-Sep.

Notes. The taxon has been found in the northern part of Central Mountain Range and was previously treated as G. flavo-maculata Hayata. The gross morphology of this variety is rather similar to species of G. flavo-maculata Hayata that distributes in the central and the southern part of Central Mountain Range. But from authors’ detailed comparison, the variety is different from G. flavo-maculata in the anther color that is pink to light red, smaller size of plants, and slightly shorter corolla tubes.
